README.TXT ---------- Thank you for trying the demo version of Mr. Drumstix' Music Studio by Howling Dog Systems. See the end of this file for ordering information. To Install ---------- Run Windows. From Program Manager, select 'File' from the main menu, then 'Run'. In the dialog box type [A:]install where [A:] is the drive letter or subdirectory where you unzipped this file. Media Vision MIDIMate Fix ------------------------- If you are using a Media Vision MIDIMate Adapter attached to an external MIDI device, you may have to enable the following line in the DRUMSTIX.INI file in your WINDOWS directory: NoRunningStatus=1 This is becase the Media Vision Windows Driver for the MIDIMate does not correctly implement running status, which is part of the MIDI specification. Symptoms of this problem are incorrect, and 'stuck' notes (notes which stay on and on and on...) Aria Based Sound Boards ----------------------- If you are using a sound board based on the Aria chip set, use the "ARIA Wave Synth 2" driver. Gravis UltraSound Boards ------------------------ If you are using a Gravis UltraSound with 256K of patch RAM installed, you may find you are missing some sounds. Change from 16 bit patches to 8 bit patches to double the number of sounds you can store on the UltraSound's on-board RAM. To change from 16 bit to 8 bit patches: Double click on the 'Control Panel' in the 'Main' Windows Program Manager group. Then double click on the 'Drivers' icon. Find the UltraSound driver in the list of installed drivers and click once on it to highlight it. Now click on the button marked 'Setup' to the right of the driver list. In the UltraSound driver setup dialog, select the 'Conserve Memory' option in the lower left corner. Click 'OK' to save your changes. This should help substantially. There is some sound degradation with this option, but it is not as great as one might think. General ------- We hope you enjoy Mr. Drumstix' Music Studio.
